    Velina Minkoff

    Velina Minkoff was born in Sofia, Bulgaria. She has a degree in English with a track in Creative Writing – Fiction from UCLA, a Master's in European Studies, track Culture and History from the Universiteit van Amsterdam and a post-graduate diploma from the École de Traduction Littéraire at the Centre national du livre in Paris. She is the author of a short story collection in English, Red Shorts (Colibri, 2001) and co-translator, with Patrick Maurus, of the French version of her Bulgarian debut novel, The Report of the Green Amoeba on the Chemical Pencil (Colibri, 2015) published in France as Le Grand Leader doit venir nous voir (Actes sud, 2018). Her first Bulgarian short story collection, Full-bush Brazillian (Colibri, 2018) received the special award "Yordan Raditchkov" and contains her own translations of stories she originally wrote in English, while Les Shorts Rouges (Hémisphères, 2020) features her French language translations of stories written in both English and Bulgarian. She lives in Paris, writing and translating in the three languages.
