    George Szirtes

    George Szirtes is a Hungarian-born poet and translator. He won the T S Eliot Prize for Reel in 2004 and his two subsequent books were also shortlisted for the same prize. In 2012 he won the Best Translated Book Award in the US for his translation of 2015 Man Booker International winner, László Krasznahorkai’s Satantango. His last children’s book In the Land of Giants won the 2012 CLPE award for best book of verse for children.

     His current projects include an opera with the composer Richard Causton and a book of short texts, Notes on the Inner City to appear later this year.
